Abstract

The taxonomic position of the Lasiocephalus species has changed over time. On the basis of the available phylogenetic studies and considering that Lasiocephalus as a genus lacks of clear morphological limits, we treat them as a group within Senecio. In the absence of a comprehensive taxonomic revision of the group, we provide a nomenclator and new typifications as a first step. Herein, we tentatively recognize 21 species, for a total of 126 names compiled. 24 of them are lectotypified herein, and S. loeseneri is neotypified. Nomenclatural and taxonomic notes are provided when necessary, and the distribution by country is given for each species.
