Abstract

This paper analyzes the results of a scale of attitudes towards probability and its teaching and a scale of attitudes towards statistics and its teaching in a sample of 124 future teachers of Early Childhood Education from a university in southern Chile. The attitude is positive towards the probability in the teachers, although the attitude toward statistics is slightly better. Future teachers value the usefulness and importance of teaching statistics and probability from an early age. However, there is evidence of low self-perception of their knowledge of probability, statistics and teaching. The study suggests the need to generate teaching proposals that encourage teacher updating and improvement of attitude towards this thematic topics; and in this way contribute to favoring the introduction of probability and statistics learning from the first ages in schools.
