Abstract
The author focuses his analysis on two theses underlying Alejandro Guzmán s work on legal interpretation: 1st The rules on interpretation of the Civil Code laws cannot be read in the light of Savigny s work. 2a Roman law can, according to the rules of interpretation, fulfill an interpretative function in Chilean law.
