Abstract
This essay attempts to rethink the human sciences from the idea of spirit proper to the peoples of the Amazon. To do this, I will give an account of contemporary Brazilian critical thinking (academic and non-academic), which assumes alterity and the environmental crisis as central axes of its reflections, to later articulate them to an idea of human sciences that take as an object not the human, but the living.
