Comparison of static and dynamic WDM networks in terms of energy consumption

Abstract

The benefit of migrating from static to dynamic WDM networks is evaluated, for the first time, in terms of energy consumption. Results show a clear benefit of dynamic operation for traffic loads < 0.5.
