Abstract

One of the most popular tests used in France to estimate the strength of a soil according to depth is the portable PANDA penetrometer ("Pénétromètre Autonome Numérique Dynamique Assisté") [NF P 94-105]. This device has been used in the estimation of the strength parameters of the soil of a house located in Reñaca-Chile, which were used to estimate the ground sinking load, the safety level, and the settlements that can be developed due to the structure's service loads. Calculations have been performed for static and pseudo-static conditions, considering the damage in the structure after the 1985 Chile Earthquake, Mw7.8.
