Abstract

This article is based on the Critical Discourse Studies and describes the legitimation strategies of the discourse (Martín Rojo & van Dijk, 1998) that was used in the Constitutional Impeachment against the Education Minister, Yasna Provoste Campillay, carried out in 2008 by three accusatory deputies of the right-wing. The discourse of three accusatory deputies is described in a parliamentary debate context from the legitimation strategies as linguistic and semantic resources displayed in their statements. The results indicate that the highest usage rate of legitimation strategies focuses on the semantic type. Within this, the most frequent is the appeal to the legality and normality, and legal procedures. As for the general type strategies, the most frequent is the use of linguistics forms such as adjectives.
