Abstract

An axial fan together with a perforated plate has become a common assembly in electronic systems. The current trend of manufacturing smaller computers causes the appearance of new issues like hydraulic interferences between a fan and a screen or how much the swirling flow at the fan outlet is affected by a screen. The aim of this paper is to discuss the influence that design parameters have on the fan performance and on the flow pattern in an electronic system. A summary of the parameters which influence them found in the literature is made trying to serve as help for thermal engineers.
