One of the most complex epithet inherited from the Classical Greece is barbarism. This political-cultural term contributes to forge an idea about the centre-periphery vision that the Greek world had about foreign people. This article intends to address the view of Thucydides to the Greece of the origins in some parts of the Archaeology (Thuc. I, 1 - 21) in which the historian manifests the proximity between the behaviour of past Greeks and barbarians. Considering that, I propose as barbarians way of life the piracy, use of weapons, clothing, tyranny and belief on fake stories.
