title = "Management program on monitoring Chilean bridges during operational stage",
abstract = "Currently, Chile has about 6,000 bridges in the national network considering short to medium span bridges with different structural damage and condition due to the lack of a maintenance program and the aging of structures. During 2019, the Ministry of Public Works proposed a new way to improve inspection and determination of damage index for bridges following AASHTO codes and European Standards. A “Monitoring Challenge” invites private entities, Universities and Procurement companies to develop a monitoring system for two bridges as a case study, namely, Seminario Bridge (continuous system with steel girder and concrete slab) in the Region of Valpara{\'i}so and Tolt{\'e}n Bridge (concrete arch bridge) in the Region of Araucan{\'i}a. This paper presents the results obtained from the management program implemented by the Owner in order to, with a reduced and limited budget, get an optimization data of the damage and structural safety condition using monitoring system.",
