Abstract
This paper aims to examine the course Philosophical Reflections about Aesthetics (two lessons), held by Xavier Zubiri in 1975, from the perspective of the mature doctrine of the Spanish author, the so called ‘Noology’. From this approach, the study of aesthetics takes on another dimension as it requires to link the three spheres of noology, namely, primordial apprehension of reality (direct contact with things); the sentient logos (the affirmation of reality through all forms of language) and the sentient reason (the construction in reality of new forms of reality). These three remarkable elements take on a profound meaning when it comes to aesthetics. In this study we situate the aesthetic on a first level of apprehension itself (in the field of sensation), followed by a second level where the aesthetic is designed and arts express the fruitive reality and a final level where artworks themselves would be located.
