In projects pertaining to basement wall in buildings, justification of only vertica batter and soffit reinforcements is quit habitual, the same by way of elasti calculation of the efforts generated b the soil's thrust action, external overload and exterior water thrust to the building Analysis of the walls along thei longitudinal plane, collecting loads a coronation and transmitting these to th soil through wall foundations, is hardl covered in technical literature and as consequence the same does not appea in the calculation annexes of the projects This is likewise the case with the loca support effect of the pillars over th walls and interaction in accordance t the rigidity with regards to the differen elements intervening in the problem as is the case with the superstructure basement wall, foundations and terrain effects that are likewise not take specifically into consideration in th calculations All these analysis may give rise t supplementary reinforcement tha is not contemplated in the projects resulting in retraction and temperatur reinforcement that is arranged fo other reasons actually being in charg of absorbing these efforts that are no conventionally analysed in the projects Thus this investigation has been pu forward with the idea of covering th void that exists in the design of basemen walls, the same constituting Mr. ALVAR PEñA FRITZ' doctoral thesis (14), in whic Professor JOSE CALAVERA RUIZ has bee his Director and Mr. MANUEL LLOREN ALCON has acted as the counsellor analysing the sensitivity of said wall in view of variation in the respectiv rigidity of the superstructure, basemen wall and terrain, attempting to obtai practical tables and recommendation in order to determine the supplementar reinforcements that are necessary fo these concepts.
