Abstract

In this paper we present a review of the macro, micro and symbolic representations of matter. From this review, a questionnaire was adapted for application of 15-years, in the classification of the subject content. Data analysis shows that students have great difficulty in relating the macroscopic and submicroscopic levels of matter, as well as to distinguish between mixtures and compounds.
