Abstract

The following work introduces the implementation of a Torque Field Oriented Control scheme with a selective optimization strategy, in driven Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM), within a marine diesel engine propulsion system. The optimization strategy forces the electric drive to operate in power take-off or take-in modes, in order to ensure a minimum emissions operating point (MEOP) for the diesel engine prime mover. Simulation results were obtained for different operation conditions for the diesel engine, based on the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI).
