Abstract

Ion liquids (IL) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([bmim] Br) and 1-n-propylamin-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([pamin] Br) were used as CO 2 absorbing media for biogas upgrading. IL [bmim] Br and [pamin] Br were tested as absorbents for enrichment of methane of a biogas stream, evaluating the impact of the amine group in the fixation of CO 2 and making a systematic comparison with the conventional organic solvents monoethanolamine or diethanolamine under similar operating conditions. The effects of temperature and moderated changes of pressures were analyzed.
