Abstract

This paper proposes a technique for the prioritization of physical assets based on the effect that aspects such as unavailability and utilization at the production levels may cause on system’s throughput. This technique uses as a fundamental parameter the indicator called Overall Throughput Effectiveness (OTE) that allows relating aspects such as the availability of each equipment item, its levels of utilization with the entire system of factory´s throughput. In order to illustrate the feasibility and usefulness of the proposed technique, a case study extracted from the literature is presented and discussed.
