Abstract

Mental illness, understood under the umbrella term disability, has recently begun to be the subject of analyses in the multidimensional context of the quality of life. Under the social disability model, an approach has been generated focused on the person who draws on the measurement of required support to gain access to a life with equal opportunities. The measurement of such needs requires being contextualized in the environment and culture in which the people find themselves. Under the methodology based on the data as a reference method performed between October 2008 and February 2009, a series of interviews. Results: We have identified the representations and answers to the illness, related to the central categories dependency and type of care. All of this is analyzed from the framework of the social disability model.
