Capsicum annuum L., pimiento, is an important crop, both for its fruit and for its seed. In Chile some regions (such as Quillota valley) have very suitable climatic conditions for pimiento. The object of this work was to learn more about the reproductive and vegetative processes and their interrelations with the purpose of we followed the evolution of the pertinent parameters for root, stem and leaf during vegetative growth, initiation and completion of reproductive development, as well as the distribution of biomass among the organs considered. We conclude that the appearance of the reproductive phase initiates strong interactive competition among radical development, leaf biomass and fruit growth.
