Resumen

The wide deployment of organizational studies in Latin America poses the challenge of understanding organizational conditions marked by an increase in the precariousness of work as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper aims to analyze the strategies of resistance by young workers of the Starbucks Chile union in a scenario of social and economic crisis. For this, an organizational ethnography was carried out in the cities of Santiago and Valparaíso, from March 2022 to May 2023. The results of this study are presented through the following categories: a) Trade union organizations in the context of the social outbreak and pandemic; b) Organization and mobilization towards a Chile without precarious jobs; c) Organization beyond our borders: First international fast food meeting. Based on these results, there are several analytical possibilities that can be further developed from an ethnographic perspective. It is concluded that young people have developed new political subjectivities from a discursive-ideological dimension, focusing their actions on social protest and social media, projecting an advance towards an international union of fast food workers.
